Our Journey To Bring Joy
In the town of harmony, everything was going as usual until the dark days came—the COVID-19 pandemic. It felt like an unexpected plot twist, where fear and confusion took over, and the streets, once echoed with laughter, got lost in an uneasy silence. Inevitable changes swept through, altering lives and diminishing the once vibrant spirits.
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." - Booker T. Washington.
In the midst of the world's turmoil, Devdeep Chowdhury was not excluded from the grip of nature's wrath. The overwhelming loss of his cousin to the pandemic stirred up a deep perception in him, where he recognized the importance of the urgent need for a collective effort to preserve humanity. He embarked on a journey to initiate positive changes and believed that collective strength emerged from individual actions. That was the moment when he laid the foundation of our evolving group under the name “Asansol COVID Fighters.”
"Believe you can, and you're halfway there." - Theodore Roosevelt.
We stepped up to help in the difficult situation of the pandemic. We took to Facebook to spread the word and shared Google Forms for everyone in the community to join our cause. We took initiatives to address critical needs such as the supply of cylinders and flowmeters. Over 100 oxygen cylinders were distributed, not only to Asansol but also to other NGOs. Our community kitchen mirrored the motto "we will cook, we will serve" to tirelessly alleviate the hunger crisis. We started providing cooked meals to 700 people on a daily basis, which later expanded to cover over 2000 people. The Rudra Community epitomised the spirit of "resilience in unity," where our collective effort played a crucial role in vaccinating over 800 individuals. We also received invitations from various schools to conduct COVID awareness sessions, to which we delivered interactive and knowledgeable presentations among the youth.
Our unwavering dedication illuminated our commitment to answer every call promptly and offer crucial services during the toughest moments of the pandemic crisis. It became a challenging test, but our resilience stood strong in the midst of the viral storm, became the hope for others, and became symbols of courage and selflessness.
"Boldly brave, break barriers, and build a brighter tomorrow." - with new minds and ideas, we increased in numbers, our faith to acquire success in our mission became more secure and evolved into the non-governmental organization, "United H.O.P.E. Foundation."

“Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” - Neil Postman.
In the broader canvas of society, “Oorja” stands as a symbol of collective responsibility. We strive to create an environment where innocence is safeguarded, allowing children to grow in a space free from harm and despondency. We focus on the education and well-being of the children. We hold community coaching classes for underprivileged children and their overall development, which stands as its primary aim. Over 1000 children die due to malnourishment, for which we have taken the initiative to feed the impoverished with the help of the community kitchen under our organisation. For every child who laughs in the face of adversity and for every dream that remains unclouded, “Oorja” writes a story of resilience and hope for them.
In addition to Oorja, we donated black boards through the “Kanskuli” project. We also gave out green and white boards to Kanyapur High School for educational purposes. L'Arche International Asha Niketan Asansol is another home where the children are fond of us. There, we had managed to display and sell the handicraft products made by the children in Asansol Haat.
“Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul.” - Coretta Scott King.
In the midst of the 21st century, the stark reality of women grappling with inequality and enduring various forms of abuse persists. “Naritva” stands upright to reshape this narrative. It is essential to foster a just and equitable society where women can breathe freely. For which we focus on the empowerment of women through workshops where handicrafts are practised and women's rights, hygiene, and health prevail. Education plays a pivotal role in challenging gender norms, and we aim to put an emphasis on that. We also pay visits to old-age homes, embodying the interconnectedness of humanity. “Naritva” is not just a movement but a shared responsibility woven into the fabric of society, promising a brighter tomorrow where empowerment knows no bounds.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” - Mahatma Gandhi
When the storm hit, the Sundarban Emergency Yaas Cyclone Relief Drive stood tall, providing quick help by supplying food, water, medicines, and others during the difficult times. Special appreciation to Sri Moloy Ghatak and Sri Abhijit Ghatak for their invaluable contributions. This led to another emergency cyclone relief drive, this time focusing on Purba, Medinipur, Contai, and the Dighai region. We made sure that the aid reached those in need promptly. We assisted Cheshire Homes India, Burupur, during this time, and in turn, we became a family to them.
Under the “Save a Life” initiative, we extended our reach by distributing ration kits to 800 families. By conducting surveys, we reached out to remote areas and gathered important data to ensure the efficient distribution of food to those in need.
In addition to all these, we hosted a free medical camp in Tilighutu Manjhimandwa, Kulapur. There we had organized services like eye testing, general check-ups, and specialist consultations, along with a pharmacy for essential medications.
Our first annual event was held on March 27, 2022, where we successfully completed the yearly journey of carrying out the mission of creating harmony in this world, impacting over 10,00,000 people and look forward to many more stepping stones.
